My Favorite Beijing Citywalk Route So Far! 🌟
I'd like to share with you an absolutely stunning Beijing Citywalk route!
✅ Start by taking the subway to Yonghegong Station and begin your Citywalk from there!
✅ Route: Yonghegong - Wudaoying Hutong - Guozijian Hutong - Confucius Temple and Guozijian Museum (see image 2)
✅ Attractions along the way:
⭐️ Yonghegong: Known as the "blessed ground where dragons hide," it has produced two emperors and is the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Beijing. The temple is especially popular, and the prayer beads from Yonghegong are incredibly sought after, with specific designs only available on weekdays. There are three places within the temple grounds to purchase religious items, and you can have them blessed on-site.
⭐️ Wudaoying Hutong: Considered the most artistic hutong in Beijing, with a gentle and graceful atmosphere reminiscent of江南. Strolling through this creative hutong requires a leisurely, relaxed, curious, and explorative mindset, slowing down to savor the experience.
⭐️ Guozijian Street: Also known as Chengxian Street, it is the only preserved street with archways in Beijing, located where the highest educational institutions of the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties were situated. This is a famous historical and cultural street in China, presenting the grand style of the capital. Walking under the shade of trees on this street is very comfortable, and the red walls along the street are a favorite backdrop for photos. Choose a café with a street-side seat to watch the flow of handsome men and women passing by, and take your time to appreciate the scene.
⭐️ Confucius Temple and Guozijian Museum: Built according to the principle of "left temple, right school," the left temple refers to the Confucius Temple, and the right school to the Guozijian. Guozijian was the highest educational institution and academic organization in ancient times, while the Confucius Temple was the place to worship Confucius during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties.
✅ Tips for your visit:
- The route visiting these four places forms a rectangle, and it's recommended to spend a whole day leisurely exploring.
- Reserve your tickets for Yonghegong, the Confucius Temple, and Guozijian in advance online.
- There are many street-side cafés in Wudaoying Hutong and Guozijian Street; be sure to find a comfortable seat to enjoy coffee while watching the world go by—it's incredibly relaxing.
