Book the flag-raising ceremony 9 days in advance. If you have young children, you can book for the flag-lowering ceremony, which is also very impressive.
The Forbidden City (The Palace Museum)
Book 10 days in advance. Tickets are released at 20:00 (closed on Mondays). It's very difficult to secure! For those with the elderly and children, it is recommended to take the shorter central axis route.
Mao Zedong's Mausoleum
Book 7 days in advance. Open from 8:00 to 12:00 for half a day every day. You can buy flowers for 3 RMB each at the entrance for paying respects.
National Museum of China
Book 7 days in advance. Ticket sales at 17:00 (closed on Mondays). You can see many cultural relics from history books.
Military Museum
Book 6 days in advance. Tickets are released at 8:00 AM, 5:00 PM, and 8:00 PM daily (closed on Mondays). Aircraft and artillery come to life.
The Summer Palace
Book 7 days in advance. Tickets are released at midnight. There is no need to buy a combined ticket; the site is too large to cover entirely.
⚠ Precautions
For the Temple of Heaven, it is recommended to buy a combined ticket, otherwise, you cannot enter the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests.
When visiting the Memorial Hall, you cannot bring any items. You can store your bags in advance to save time. Mobile phones are allowed but no photography is permitted, and cameras are not allowed.
At the National Museum, you must enter during the reserved time slot; latecomers will not be admitted!
The flag-raising ceremony can be watched from both the east and west sides of Tiananmen Tower and Tiananmen Square.
