Guangxi is not just about the landscapes of Guilin; it also boasts pristine forests, giant palm fronds, majestic transnational waterfalls, mysterious caves, and picturesque countryside that all draw me in.
👉 Transportation ❓
Fly to Nanning Airport, then rent a car to Chongzuo, which takes over an hour.
👉 What to do and photo spots ❓
-
Detian Waterfall
A transnational waterfall between China and Vietnam. Seeing the waterfall that appears in Chinese language textbooks with your own eyes is truly awe-inspiring. -
Mingshi Country Scenery
I personally think it's a bit similar to the countryside around Yangshuo, and you can also cycle and take a bamboo raft here. -
Tongling Grand Canyon
Well worth a visit, although it's in Jingxi, it's very close to Chongzuo. -
Sanmenhai
Apart from the Tongling Grand Canyon, this was the most surprising scenic spot for me. It's even more photogenic on a sunny day.

Notes ⚠️
-
Detian Waterfall is best visited after 12:00 when water is released from Vietnam, making it more spectacular, especially outside the flood season of July and August. The best spot to photograph the waterfall is from the rice field coffee shop's ☕️ upper viewpoint ☝️.
-
The Tongling Grand Canyon is more beautiful in the rain. Bring a hiking stick, as there is a section with stairs that may be challenging for those with less stamina.
-
Sanmenhai is well worth it, with its emerald green lake and exquisitely crafted stalactite and stalagmite caves. It's incredibly beautiful, although the admission ticket 🎫 is a bit expensive.
